For many Bangladeshis living abroad, a familiar aroma in the kitchen or a trusted product from back home can bring back a feeling that is hard to describe—a family meal, a special occasion, or the everyday comfort of life in Bangladesh. Our journey began with one simple goal: to help Bangladeshis living in the United States enjoy the authentic taste of home.
In late 2022, we launched Aklia’s Desi Shad. On July 12, 2023, we introduced our first four products—Chili Powder, Turmeric Powder, Cumin Powder, and Coriander Powder—to customers across the USA.
The response was more than we hoped for. The love, trust, and feedback from our customers showed us something important: people were not only looking for authentic Bangladeshi spices. They were also searching for many other traditional, high-quality products from home—products that can be difficult to find in the US market.
That realization inspired the next chapter of our journey.

Our food category proudly carries the name Aklia’s Desi Shad, the new identity of our original Desi Shad brand. While the name has grown, our promise has not changed: authentic taste, carefully selected ingredients, dependable quality, and food that feels close to home.
